The main aim of the project is to enhance the esthetical value of landscape and to promote a low cost environmental riqualification of anthropic areas by the characterisation and the employ of local provenance wildflowers. The aim will be achieved by the followings:

  • Choice of native or naturalised species belonging to their ornamental and biodiverse value and collection of the seeds in natural environment
  • Study of the seed biology and production of the not yet commercially available seeds
  • Biological, esthetical and functional characterisation of the species and their suitability to the intensive cultivation as a conservation and valorisation means
  • Plantings in anthropic environment and evaluation of the following aspects: ornamental value, improved biodiversity level and ecological value.

The project involves 24 partners in an integrated approach, each one with diverse competences but with a strong coordination, leaded by the Institute for Ecosystems Studies, CNR, Pisa. The scientific partners will provide to the experimental research, while the public partners (town councils and schools) will have a fundamental role in the demonstration and divulgation, and the technical partners ( nurseries, seed company) will give the production knowledge.
